A Victory Day campaign turning the never-used back of a billboard into a rear-view mirror, Felis's rewritten category structure, and Bill Gates's six-thousand-word warning on artificial intelligence.
The most striking work of Victory Day week came from an insurance brand, turning the never-used back face of a billboard into a medium. Locally there is also Felis's reworked category structure: retail media experience has been added to Brand Experience, and a special days category to Outdoor. Bill Gates's long essay on artificial intelligence was the most discussed text in the industry this week. Internationally we have gathered campus activations and a programme bringing venture investors together with the events sector.

Felis Has Rewritten Its Categories
The category structure has been comprehensively reviewed for the twenty-first Felis Awards. Two changes bear directly on the experience side: a Retail Media Experience category, judging work where retailers' physical and digital touchpoints are used by other brands, has been added to Brand Experience Felis, and a Special Days category, for work built around special days and weeks, to Outdoor Felis. Creator Felis launches for the first time, and launch and real-time integrated campaign titles have been added to Integrated Felis. Categories specific to World Cup communications have also been opened for this period only. Early entry runs to 14 September, with the ceremony on 4–6 November.

A Six-Thousand-Word Warning from Gates
Bill Gates, known for his optimism about artificial intelligence, changes tone in a new essay arguing the world is entirely unprepared for the coming wave. Saying the technology will be either the greatest leveller in history or the greatest source of injustice, Gates proposes a robot and token tax, "human-reserved" professions left legally to people alone, and early legislative intervention.

Access, Not Inspiration
Marina Middleton, CEO of Create & Cultivate, points to the mistake brands most often make at women-focused events: building a room themed on inspiration and empowerment. What is actually needed, she argues, is access — to capital, to tools and to the right people. She sets out a matching system based on two-sided consent rather than forced networking, and the principle that a guest should leave changed rather than inspired.
